EPS, SRS system removal

After unplugging the SRS system and running the iMIEV for a while it seems all it does is clear a high voltage error on the dash and provides the high voltage system with a shut down signal in case of a crash.
I will not need to use this as the donor car already has an inertia cut off switch wired into the key +12v which would shut down the high voltage system.

Troubleshooting and removing wiring the iMIEV on the floor

Now that the iMIEV is on the floor is time to try and get it running just like it was before I pulled it all apart.
Now with all the sensors plugged in and the J1772 plugged in properly Everything is on the dash is fine!

with the iMIEV in D the wheel speed sensors wont pick up anything as its not on the vehicle and the motor just spins at a wavering "idle" speed which i guess will be the car trying to put load on the drivetrain to creep the car forward.

The process of cutting out all the unnecessary wires is very very time consuming, all of the door connectors are gone and most of the unused plugs are gone and the iMIEV still starts up like it should. I still need to go through all the connectors and find dead ends as the more wires i can cut out the better.
Im hoping eventually i will be able to cut out the abs system entirely although for now im sure a box in the BMW filled with iMIEV parts will do.

Removing everything else from the iMIEV

Now comes the fun part, taking everything out without breaking anything and laying it out on the garage floor.

iMIEV battery removal

Now to gut the iMIEV of every single electrical component and try get it running out of the car.
First step. The Battery
I had to borrow all the jacks I could to get this done.

These are the Toshiba cells Mitsubishi uses, they have less energy density than the typical iMIEV pack with a total capacity of only 10.4kwh, but on the plus side they do not require cooling/heating during operation/charging as they are low internal resistance cells.

The beginning of a project

Because of an unfortunate crash involving my 2012 iMIEV M spec I have decided to buy a donor car to convert, but instead of the usual petrol to EV conversion, I will be converting a dead DC electric BMW 318i to run fully off the iMIEVs drivetrain (hopefully with heater and a/c working too!)

I am planning to try and get two iMIEV battery packs running in parallel to increase the range.

Here is a link to the previous owners conversions, although i will be replacing everything except the power steering pump and gearbox with the iMIEVs components.
